conferences and regional meetings)
Councilmember Gharpetian shared photos depicting traffic and cycling violations on La Crescenta Avenue. He also wished good luck to all candidates participating in the election.

Councilmember Najarian discussed the challenges faced by current and prospective City Council candidates in balancing the demands of public service with full-time employment. He proposed the creation of a new City position or the engagement of an outside contractor to serve in a role similar to that of an ethics officer. He also shared that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project was held at City Hall the previous week and noted that a lawsuit has been filed against the City of Burbank for allegedly failing to approve plans and specifications in a timely manner.

Councilmember Asatryan noted that the Ethics Commission item is still scheduled to come before the Council and asked Councilmember Najarian whether his proposal for an ethics officer was intended to be considered in conjunction with that discussion. Councilmember Najarian stated that he favored the independence and ability for more immediate action that an ethics officer could provide over a commission. Councilmember Asatryan indicated that the ethics officer proposal could be included as part of the forthcoming Ethics Commission discussion.

Councilmember Brotman read an email from a resident on La Crescenta Avenue that had been sent to all Councilmembers expressing satisfaction with the project's impact on neighborhood noise levels and traffic safety.

Mayor Kassakhian noted that it was Election Day, encouraged residents to vote, and congratulated all candidates participating in the election. He also reminded the public that election results often take time to be finalized.

City Clerk Dr. Abajian added that election results would be posted on glendalevotes.org. Councilmember Gharpetian asked whether ballots mailed on Election Day would still be counted. Dr. Abajian explained that mailed ballots must be postmarked by June 2, 2026, in order to be counted. Councilmember 3 06 02 26 CC

In addition, he noted that the City is seeking public feedback on the draft Local Hazard Mitigation Plan and that comments may be submitted through June 30, 2026, at glendaleca.gov/lhmp.
