6. CITY COUNCILISTAFF COMMENTS (Including reports from
conferences and regional meetings)
Councilmember Brotman welcomed Councilmember Bartrosouf. He spoke about Glendale Water & Power’s clean energy strategy and an immediate funding opportunity through a California Energy Commission grant called the Distributed Electricity Backup Assets Program (DEBA). He formally requested a GWP report back with ideas, opportunities, and/or existing plans in four areas: developing a virtual power plant strategy, offering power purchase agreements for solar installations at commercial and industrial sites, expanding time-of-use rates, and creating an effective program to incentivize residents and businesses to reduce energy usage during peak periods.
City Manager Golanian stated that these items would be listed individually for consideration on next week’s agenda.
Councilmember Brotman attended a meeting of the San Fernando Valley Council of Governments (SFVCOG), where Councilmember Bartrosouf was appointed to represent the SFVCOG on the Southern California Association of Governments’ 5 07 1426CC
