"Sustainability" is a lens for evaluating policies and practices. All government operations have enviromental impacts, but because they are "siloed," impacts are not always identified or assessed systematically.
The Commission can aid City policy makers and staff in evaluating impacts, proposing alternatives and assisting with implementation, as well as public/business outreach. My govemment experience will useful.

"Sustainability" has many definitions, but it is also a lens through which to evaluate policies and governmental operations are traditionally "siloed" or operate in a stand- alone manner, even though all have environmental impacts.
The Sustainability Commission can function as a resource whose members can assist City staff and policy makers in evaluating these impacts, proposing alternatives and assisting with implementation. The Commission can also assist with pilot programs and public education.
