7. ARCHITECTURAL STYLE, INCLUDING ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS AND CHARACTER DEFINING FEATURES This structure is a two-level single-family residence in a Contemporary style. It is built on a hillside site that allows room for a garage under the westerly end of the house, while the easterly end of the house is at ground level. Typical of many mid-century houses, the massing is geometric and the primary construction materials used are glass, steel, and plywood.

The front (south) elevation of the house is parabolic in shape, the roof slowly rising to and descending from a mid-point marked by a beam projecting outward from the interior of the house. The roof overhang, the underside of which is plywood, tapers decreasingly in depth as it approaches its east and west ends. The walls are composed mostly of full-height fixed and sliding glass windows, framed by steel and topped by clerestory panes that increase in size as the roof above them ascends. Towards the west end of the front façade is a two-story-tall recessed entrance space consisting of an open "floating" staircase of thirteen steps ending in a landing in front of the entry door on the main level. On the east end of the front façade is a single window set far back in the wall, the intervening space sheltered by a deep open-beamed eave of the main roof. East of the entrance space is a wall of sliding doors, with clerestory windows above, that lead to a wooden railed deck which is at ground level.

The east elevation of the house, looking out on an open lawn, is marked by very deep open-beamed eaves. It walls are a combination of full-height windows and sliding glass doors as well as areas of vertical plywood. A chimney, its base surrounded by a plywood structure, projects from the inside of the house, behind the glass and through the roof.

The rear (north) elevation of the house features a later-built projection with mostly glass walls and an independent, slightly gabled roof with eaves supported by notched beam-ends.
