DISCUSSION

Seventeen applications were received and are requesting appointment.
At the March 28, 2023 City Council meeting, the City Council received an update on 2023 recruitment efforts. The City Council unanimously directed staff to: a) accepted the four (4) applications received after the application deadline, b) schedule interviews with new applicants or a special meeting to be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, and c) waived the reinterviewing of incumbents.
The following outlines persons requesting consideration of appointment:

APPLICANTS COMMENTS
Richard Hansen (Office No. 1 Incumbent)
Jenny Chan
Greg Lammers Also applied for Planning Commission
Customarily, since the number of applicants seeking appointment to the Business Improvement District (BID) Advisory Board is equal to the number of available seats, the City Council could dispense with the formal balloting procedure and appoint for the term of July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2027, any and/or all of the following with a single motion if desired:
Business Improvement District (BID) Advisory Board:
Don Nolan, Village Eatery (Office No. 2)
Matthew Davis, Bistro Studios, Inc. (Office No. 3)
Cathy Jarvis, Cathy’s Wishing Well (Office No. 5)
Since the number of applications received for the Community Services Commission, Planning Commission and Water Commission exceeds the number of available seats, the City Council should utilize the formal balloting process to appoint representatives to fill vacancies on those commissions.
City Council Voting Procedures:
The City Clerk will distribute ballots to each City Councilmember listing the names of all applicants. Each Councilmember will place an “X” beside the candidate he/she favors. The City Clerk will announce the vote. If a second ballot is needed, candidates nominated by at least three Councilmembers will be included in the second balloting.
