CALL TO ORDER
The City Council special meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM by Mayor Fredendall.
ROLL CALL
Members Present: Michael Allawos, Shaunna Elias, Mendell Thompson, Mayor Pro Tem Karen Davis, and Mayor David Fredendall
Members Absent: None
Staff Present: City Manager Adam Raymond, City Attorney Danny Aleshire, Assistant City Manager/Interim Public Works Director Moises Lopez, City Clerk/Communications Director Kathleen Sessman, Audio Visual Production Specialist Craig Gill, Public Communications Coordinator Greg Morton, and Deputy City Clerk/Records Manager Roxanne Breceda
CLOSED SESSION
Closed Session titles were read into the record.
Mayor Fredendall invited public comments on closed session items. No members of the public requested to speak, and no written correspondence was received. The meeting convened into Closed Session at 5:33 PM.
1. Closed Session
CS1. PUBLIC EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT A closed session will be held, pursuant to Government Code §54957(b), to consider ratification of the City Manager’s appointment to the position of Public Works Director.
CS2. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL – ANTICIPATED LITIGATION A closed session will be held, pursuant to Government Code § 54956.9(d)(2) and (e)(1) because there is a significant exposure to litigation in one (1) case but which the City believes are not yet known to a potential plaintiff or plaintiffs, which facts and circumstances need not be disclosed.
Closed Session adjourned at 6:00 PM and the meeting reconvened into Open Session at 6:02 PM with all members present.
City Attorney Aleshire reported the following actions taken in Closed Session: CS1. The City Council ratified the City Manager’s appointment of Hafez Ghafari as the new Public Works Director; and CS2. The City Council was briefed, and a tentative settlement in the litigation matter was authorized, pending approval of the final settlement agreement.
