Dear Madam Mayor and Council Members:
I briefly reviewed the referenced agenda item regarding a potential sales tax measure and strongly believe that now is not the time to entertain a potential City sales tax increase especially since the City just received $5,933,990.00 from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to support immediate economic stabilization for households and businesses and address negative economic impacts caused by the public health emergency, and other City CIPs. Additionally, the City didn’t even blink when it authorized in excess of $219K on non-essential Agenda Item B.7 21-522 Visitor Profile Analysis and Economic Development Strategic Plan Contract Award, meeting date 12/21/21.
