Additionally, another compromise would be to not allow an additional court to be added. Next, the hours of operation should be altered. It would be helpful not to hear the pickleball first thing in the morning and consistently until 8:30 p.m.
Perhaps ending at sunset would work. Finally, equitable access needs to be further addressed. I hope the Council was able to discern how many Old Town residents actually use the courts and the ways in which they are accessible/or not to children in Old Town. Giving an hour a day to the Boys and Girls club to use (and it is the court that also has the basketball court so the pickleball members don't want that one anyway) is not a solution. I also hope we do not lose more tennis courts in Goleta. The argument that people are not using tennis courts is false. We have a very hard time finding open courts. The reason the Community Center court was not being used is because it was so neglected and there is only one court. People don't want to go to a location where they may have to wait for a court if there is only one.

Hearing from those who propose the "permanent courts" for an extended period of time, and allowing them to interject throughout the meeting, responding to others comments, while community members were only given 1 minute to speak, was unfair. I understand the time constraints, but there must be a more equitable way to engage in this process, when there is a proposal like this from community members. >>
>> At any rate, I wanted to mention that I was surprised a Winslowe member spoke in favor of the courts because literally every Winslowe community member I know has not been in favor of the courts.
What I realized is that she lives on the interior of the community, and her unit faces a different direction and our homes on Ekwill act as a sound barrier, so she does not hear it at all from her unit. Also, because we have 3 story units, we hear the noise from all levels, so somehow the noise is carrying that way. It must be the way our homes on Ekwill are positioned and face the courts. Perhaps this is why it is not such a noise nuisance to the other community, next to the courts. >>

Hello Mr Kyriaco,
I hope you are having a good week and this email finds you well. We just wanted to again relay our concerns regarding Pickleball. We hope the City Council will uphold our concerns regarding the noise and not move forward without ensuring compromises can be made. Whether that be different equipment, noise barriers or reduced hours we hope our concerns about our quality of life are heard.
Respectfully,
Darin and Melissa Biamonte
