SUBJECT: Ratification of Mayoral Appointments to the Public Tree Advisory Commission
RECOMMENDATION:
Ratify the mayoral appointment of Christine Hall, Kenneth Knight and Kalia Rork to the Public Tree Advisory Commission for terms ending date of February, 2027.
BACKGROUND:
The Public Tree Advisory Commission is authorized by Goleta Municipal Code Section
2.11.020. The Public Tree Advisory Commission is composed of five members, each of whom must be a resident of the City of Goleta with an interest in and/or experience in urban forestry or landscaping. Members of the Public Tree Advisory Commission shall be appointed to a four-year term.
On February 28, 2023 the City Council held a special meeting to conduct interviews of all applicants for the Public Tree Advisory Commission. At the conclusion of this meeting, the Mayor appointed Christine Hall, Kenneth Knight and Kalia Rork to the Public Tree Advisory Commission for terms ending date of February 2027.
DISCUSSION:
Government Code Section 40605 provides that an elected mayor shall make all appointments to a City’s boards, commissions and committees, subject to the City Council’s approval. This item provides the Mayor the opportunity to seek Council ratification a s a result of the nominations received on February 28, 2023 as follows:
reappointment of Christine Hall to the Public Tree Advisory Commission, appointment of Kenneth Knight and Kalia Rork to the Public Tree Advisory Commission for terms ending February, 2027.

FISCAL IMPACTS:
There is no direct fiscal impact associated with ratifying the Mayor’s appointees to the Public Tree Advisory Commission.
