Subject: Support for agenda items A.8. Sable pipeline opposition and D.3. Energy Performance Reach Code As a resident of Goleta, I would like our city to be on the right side of fighting climate disaster. One way to do this is to oppose the Sable pipeline. With corroded pipes it is a disaster that will impact us all. Re-starting oil and gas infrastructure makes no sense, especially at this time. Please oppose this dangerous proposal.

Along those lines, it is important to switch to electric power, and I'd like Goleta to be on record as being in favor of it. This measure will help us get there.

Thank you,
Sylvia Sullivan

Honorable Mayor and City Council:

I am a proud resident of Goleta and a founding member of the Society of Fearless Grandmothers-SB. The

Grandmothers are
working with a coalition of environmental groups to oppose the proposal to restart the corroded pipeline that caused the 2015 oil spill. We urge you to pass the resolution

on tomorrow evening's
consent agenda,

“A Resolution of the City Council of the City of
Goleta, California, Opposing Oil Transport by Pipeline." If it weren't for a scheduling

conflict, I would be in attendance to
speak in support of this resolution tomorrow night. Please accept this email as my public comment on this issue.

Thank you for your commitment to the environment and the wellbeing of future generations.

Sincerely,
Irene Cooke

I encourage you to vote FOR the below items:

A.8 - Resolution Opposing Oil Transport by Pipeline
D3 Energy Performance Reach Code
Sable is not Stable. There’s high risk of another spill, followed by bankruptcy leaving it to the taxpayers to cleanup. Enough - oppose this!
We need to keep mandating electric only - for health and to pair with green energy. Please vote yes.

Thank you.

Dear City Council,
I am writing to encourage the Goleta Council to vote "yes" on Sable oil pipeline opposition and the pro-electric building energy code. These two items would allow Goleta to continue its legacy as a premier environmentally-conscious city, leading the way as an example of a thriving city that continues to grow by being a good steward of its unique natural resources.

I encourage you to oppose the Sable oil pipeline because it is dangerous for Sable Offshore to reuse the corroded Plains Pipeline to restart drilling 10 years after the shutdown from the Refugio Beach disaster. This pipeline disaster resulted in catastrophic loss of wildlife and destruction of habitat, forever changing the ecosystem and causing human health issues for Goleta residents. The Sable oil pipeline would endanger our community and jeopardize the remaining unique native habitat and species in Goleta, while also jeopardizing Goleta's goals to operate on clean, renewable energy.

I encourage you to support the pro-electric building energy code. Although the all- electric reach code Goleta passed on first reading was overturned by two Trump-appointed judges, this new "energy performance" reach code should achieve similar results of bringing Goleta closer to running on clean, renewable energy. All-electric buildings are safer and healthier for residents and operate more efficiently than gas buildings. Supporting this reach code would prioritize human and environmental health. Although Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and small homes should have been included in the proposed code for health, safety, and cost reasons, this can be added in subsequent revisions. Supporting this reach code would put us back on track for achieving our clean energy goals.

Thank you for serving our community and for looking out for the intertwined human and ecosystem health of our community.

Sincerely,
Joanna Tang

Dear Council,
Thank you for all of your work toward the protection, safety, and well-being of our community.

As the chair of the Sierra Club Santa Barbara group, concerned citizen, and parent of two young children, I am writing to you to encourage you to 1) Adopt the resolution opposing oil transport by pipeline by approving Resolution No. 25 and communicating a copy of this resolution to the Santa Barbara Board of Supervisors. 2) Support D-3 Energy Performance Reach Code and add ADUs and small buildings to the code because all-electric buildings are safer, healthier, and more efficient.

Thank you for considering my comments.

All best to you all,

To Goleta City Council members:

I am writing in support of item A8 on the Feb 4th city council meeting Resolution of the City Council of the City of Goleta, California, Opposing Oil Transport by Pipeline.

It is dangerous for Sable Offshore to reuse the corroded Plains Pipeline to restart drilling 10 years after shutdown from the Refugio Beach disaster.

We do not want to have a repeat of the 2015 oil spill.

Goleta, the city closest to the 2015 Refugio disaster, should fight restart with all tools available.

Thank you for your consideration.
