Dear City of Goleta,
I am writing to express my support of a proposal to enact year-round street parking permits for Scripps Crescent, Mills Way, and adjacent streets. The parking problem on these streets has been getting worse, to the point that it is now grossly unsafe. With cars lining both sides of the street, it is difficult for two cars to safely pass while driving in opposite directions.

Visibility is severely limited, especially at the intersections, where the traffic law prohibiting parking within 20 feet of an intersection is completely ignored. It is also very difficult for Marborg and delivery services to safely do their jobs.

During temporary permitting in past Halloween and Deltopia events, the parked cars in the neighborhood were dramatically reduced, proving that permanent permitting will solve the problem. I strongly recommend immediate consideration and enactment of this proposal to ensure both the safety and enjoyment of our neighborhood.

Sincerely yours,
Olivia Bajor, DO, MEd

Subject: Parking Permits for FUVHOA Agenda Item for Feb. 17th Date: Sunday, February 15, 2026 5:00:36 PM

I am unable to attend this meeting, but would like to provide input:

My husband and I live on Scripps Crescent in the FUVHOA. For years now the living conditions of the neighborhood have been degraded not only by the rental of rooms within individual houses in the Association, but the presence of multiple vehicles parking on the streets.

I understand the need for housing and transport. My issue is primarily, I believe, with automobiles that belong to resident and non-resident students in the neighborhood. They park their automobile(s) and use bikes, scooters, skateboards, etc. to commute to campus. Reasonable.

UC is a notoriously poor neighbor historically. I believe that parking permits would lessen our area’s congestion to some degree. My husband and I appreciate and utilize the City Assist Abandoned Vehicle to periodically report long-term parking in front of our home only.

Please allow the issuance of parking permits to physical residents of the community so we may gain some relief from the congestion created by non-residents. I would love to get the street swept in front of our home; I would love to be able to get a clear view of the street when I exit our driveway. Thank you for the effort you may take on our behalf.
