RE: Goleta City Council Meeting Agenda Items C.1 – Goleta’s Sphere of Influence
Dear Mayor and City Council:
Our firm represents a number of Goleta area property owners and housing development projects potentially interested in the City of Goleta’s (“City”) proposed Sphere of Influence (“SOI”) adjustments identified in the staff report and draft Figure 2-4.
Although the City has apparently been working on these SOI adjustments since 2024, our clients just became aware of the proposed SOI adjustments this morning when they happened to review the City Council agenda materials. They have not had an opportunity to digest the staff report and understand its implications for their properties and projects . Accordingly, I respectfully request that the City Council defer discussion and action on any SOI application until the City has conducted direct outreach and engag ed in a collaborative property- specific discussion with affected owners.
Thank you for your consideration of these comments. We look forward to the City engaging in a transparent, collaborative process before any SOI adjustments.
