1. The month of December was quite busy. It started off with the Holiday Lights event taking place on December 4th in the downtown. It brought out hundreds of people to enjoy a fun family event together. We had approximately 8 vendors and other partners providing free goodies to the community. We also had free carnival games for the kids to play where they received free prizes.
Music and other fun engaging activities. Residents of all ages enjoyed their time and are looking forward to next years event.
2. On December 17th Santa along with support from Recreation and the Gonzales Fire Department visited La Gloria Elementary school. They handed out goodie bags to the kids and took pictures with them. The event was fun for all, and the kids and school staff really appreciated it.
3. December 18th was the Holiday Lights Parade. 25 cars participated along with the two City Fire Trucks, Santa, the Grinch and Cindy Lou. We even had the presence of the MST Trolly with carolers.
Each year more and more cars get creative and join in on the festivities making it more entertaining for everyone. Participants had a great time and are looking forward to next year’s event.
4. Kid Power’s After School Winter Camp also ran smooth this year. It took place December 1st through the 17th. Students were visited by Santa and got a little gift bag from Kid Power staff. It was a great way for them to kick off the Holiday Season.
5. Another Christmas-themed winter camp was held from December 20th to the 23rd. 17 participants were enrolled. They made Christmas ornaments each day and wrapped them up for their parents as gifts. They also learned about the different Christmas traditions around the world. The Grinch visited this group of students and brought them all a little gift. The students really enjoyed it.
