RESOLUTION NO. 2022-52
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GONZALES APPROVING MEASURE X’S RECOMMENDATION OF PRIORITIZING THE
GONZALES COMMUNITY CENTER COMPLEX AND THE ROADS
AND STREETS PROGRAM AS THE INITIAL PROJECTS TO FUND WITH
FUNDING FROM MEASURE X
WHEREAS, on November 3, 2020, Gonzales voters approved Measure ‘X’, enacting a onehalf percent (0.5%) transactions and use tax; and WHEREAS, Measure ‘X’ was passed by voters to support projects set to enhance the quality of life of the people of Gonzales; and
WHEREAS, formation of the Oversight Committee was instrumental to the passage of Measure ‘X’, and necessary to maintain the public transparency needed for the use of these funds; and
WHEREAS, in Fiscal Year 2022-2023 it is projected that that Measure ‘X’ will bringing in $750,000 dollars; and
WHEREAS, after consideration of all pertinent testimony, the information contained in the staff report, comments from the public, and the comments and discussion of its members, the Oversight Committee had the pertinent information necessary to formulate a list of funding priorities for the use of Measure ‘X’ tax proceeds; and WHEREAS, the Measure ‘X’ Oversight Committee is recommending the prioritization of 1) The Gonzales Community Center Complex, and 2) The Roads and Streets Program for funding in that order; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the recommendation of the Measure ‘X’ Oversight Committee; and
WHEREAS, the City Council agrees and approves the recommended priorities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Gonzales that:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct and are a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. The City Council approves the recommended prioritized projects identified by the Measure ‘X’ Oversight Committee for funding with tax proceeds from the Measure ‘X’ Transaction and Use Tax.
