It was a very fun and exciting night. We had two contestants who went on to the Championship round, Isaac Lopez, and Fidel Gudino Jr. Each hit 9 Home runs in the Championship round. A tie breaker round had to be played. Fidel Gudino Jr. came out on top out hitting his opponent 2-1. The contestants both won a Dicks Sporting Good Gift Card Sponsored by Just Cookies. 1st place $100 and 2nd place $50. We finished the evening with some yummy hotdogs and hamburgers. We are looking forward to having the derby again next year as we will have a male and female derby.
7. We have successfully continued with the Aquatics programming with Beginner Swim Lessons being the most popular / asked about program. There are a total of 4 Swim Lesson Sessions scheduled, with the last one starting on July 26th and ending August 5th.
8. The City of Gonzales collaborated with the School District to provide Summer School with a morning slot at the Community Pool. Their session will run for about 3 weeks starting July 12 and we will accommodate about 100 students.
Summer camp was also a hit this year. Kids were excited to be with their friends again and get to engage in fun-filled activities. The program had 80 participants during the summer with every week being a different activity/theme. The students got to learn while they played and got their exercise in everyday at the pool and by walking to the park. Parents, as always, were very happy with the experience and continuously echoed how much their child(ren) enjoyed the program.
