SUBJECT: Appointment to the Planning Commission
In July, a Planning Commissioner seat became available with the resignation of Sandra Bravo. Staff prepared a customized application form and position duties description for the vacancy and posted these materials on the City website.
On August 3, 2022 we received an application from Hortencia Vargas, who has lived in Gonzales for several decades and has worked in the City of Gonzales Community Development Department and other positions within the City for 13 years.
Hortencia is well known, familiar with development and policy review and the general and specific operations and characteristics of the City of Gonzales.
In her attached application, she expresses a desire to further sustainable growth, provide for more schools and a thriving community and to conserve, “the Gonzales Way.” Please give Hortencia Vargas your consideration to fill the vacant Planning Commissioner position, as the City strives to prepare for coming policy considerations and expected development activity.
