The purpose of our group is to help the less fortunate families in our community by making their holiday season special. Not only by getting them an amazing Christmas gift but enjoying the entire day of the event by making them feel special. Last year, we were able to help 15 families with this grant, and now with the experience we have, this year we are hoping to double it to 30 families. Unfortunately, there’s still a lot of families in our community struggling with everyday necessities, that the holiday season is the last thing on their mind. That’s where our group comes in.

The purpose of the group is to celebrate the children of our community by hosting a day of celebration which is "Día del Niño” or “Day of the Child”. This celebration honors all children. It originated in Mexico many years ago to recognize children and promote their well being. The celebration takes place yearly on April 30th. It has expanded to other countries around the world. The group organizes the yearly celebration on the last Sunday in April It is a day full of activities at Central Park. Various agencies who offer services to children and families are invited to participate to provide information to parents. Agencies include Monterey County Health Department, First Five of Monterey County, Immigration Task Force, YWCA to name a few. Children are treated to free hot dogs and juice throughout the day. Several activities are organized such as inter-active games, story telling and reading area, jumping houses for the children to enjoy. Raffles are done throughout the day and children receive prizes such as toys, games, bicycles, etc. Dance groups entertain the audience which include performances by children. The entire day is focused on children’s activities and services. Parents visit agency booths and receive information on services for their children and family.

The purpose of the group is to provide and opportunity for the Gonzales youth to discover hidden and new talents and get them socially active in the community.

The purpose of the group is to unite our community. The would like to expand our horizon and vision by reaching out to all of the different cultures to come together for an event focused on unity, peace and love.

Members of Grupo Cultural De Gonzales purpose to celebrate cultural diversity in our town, for now our main focus and depending of the amount of the grant we will like to celebrate Día De Los Muertos/Day of the Dead as a day to honor departed family members. This is a celebration that originated in Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, to be able to make other events we are also searching from other means to get grants to help with these events.

The Salvation Army, Mobile Ministries is requesting funding to assist Seniors in Gonzales with Utility expenses.

Applications will be accepted during the food box distribution held every week at Central Park in Gonzales from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. until all the funds have been distributed to the Seniors in need. This population we serve struggles to make ends meet. If one unexpected expense arises, there is a financial domino effect that forces the Seniors to decide to buy food or medications or pay their utility bills. This program will provide relief and get them back on track.

Mobile Ministries has been providing basic needs to individuals, seniors and children in the community and will continue to do so over the coming year. These items include food boxes with fresh fruits and vegetables, hygiene products, personal protective equipment such as masks, and hand sanitizer, and vital information how The Salvation Army can assist individuals and families with other social services. The children receive an additional food bag with fresh fruits and vegetables to supplement what the school district is providing. The Food Box Program takes place at the Central Park in Gonzales from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. where 200 boxes are handed out. The City of Gonzales sends 5 volunteers to assist with the distribution. Approximately 25 food boxes each week are also delivered to COVID positive quarantined people with the help of the volunteers from the City of Gonzales.

The purpose on the group is to bring the community together to build a better understating of the Mexican culture and traditions. This group is made up of families from the small town of Tateposco, Jalisco. A few years ago Gonzales and Tateposco established a Sister City relationship. The group has participated in several community events to support the community programs and activities such as the annual children's festival in the park throughout the years. It has also participated at St. Theodore's Church annual church carnival and has organized the annual Cinco de Mayo Festival in the park and supports humanitarian causes.
