SUBJECT: Community Engament & Strategic Partnerships Activity Report Gonzales Youth Council

1. The Gonzales Youth Council has been meeting on a bi-weekly basis. They are continuing to work on their mental health project and are meeting with Dr. Jennifer Lovell to conduct an analysis of the data they gathered during the second round of surveys.

2. They are also planning to conduct a community clean up on Nov. 19th from 9:00 – 1:00 starting 449 Belden and are considering taking on a school beautification project as well.

Current Activities

1. In the month of October, the Community Health Workers (CHWs) conducted 16 COVID-19 tests and 2 completed Medi-Cal applications.

2. They assisted in five food distributions. Four with Salvation Army (average of 70 individuals) and one with the Monterey Food Bank (average of about 200 cars). These distributions are important because they help boost the numbers for Medi-cal and they are able to connect them with additional resources.

3. On October 18th, the Community Health Workers supported two community events. One of the events was a safety event in which CHOMP doctors shared how to use Narcan, the Fire Chief shared fire safety tips with the community and the Gonzales PD and Sun Streets Centers discussed gateway drugs and offered tips on prevention. Over 50 people attended the event and there was a really good response and interest from the community in support of more events to AGENDA
