REVIEW AND ANALYSIS
After carefully listening during the strategic session and reviewing meeting notes, staff curated a draft Implementation Action Plan (Plan). This Plan will be used to prioritize projects of the City in a fiscally viable manner, aligning fiscal and human resources to achieve the identified Strategic Priorities. This item is being presented to provide an overview of the previous strategic session and receive direction on the draft Implementation Action Plan from your Council as appropriate to help staff.

The Plan organizes program, project, and initiative information by priority level and is inclusive of projects that may have a scope longer than the fiscal year timeframe. The Plan identifies responsible departments and support staff, timelines for completion, identification of steps, milestones, and other notes, and prioritizes assignments to allow greater focus on those areas of most importance. Staff has made an initial recommendation on priorities for the projects contained in the Plan based on the Council input from the February 11, 2023, Strategic Session.

The Plan encompasses the City’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic Priorities, through programs, projects, and initiatives suggested by Council and staff over the course of its development. The Goals that are included represent the highest priorities for City Council. Should other sources of revenue be identified, the City may revisit this Plan and adapt it as needed. For now, by limiting the City’s efforts to these key areas, the City of Gonzales will be better positioned to achieve its long-term vision and maintain its fiscal viability.
