NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Gonzales will conduct a Public Hearing at a Special Meeting on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers, 117 Fourth Street, Gonzales, California, to consider the item referenced below.
CREATION OF A CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT-BASED ELECTORAL SYSTEM PURSUANT TO ELECTIONS CODE SECTION 10010
This is the third in a series of public hearings to provide information and receive community input on communities of interest, district maps and election sequencing for the formation of City Council districts for elections in Gonzales commencing with the General Municipal Election in November 2024. The City’s districting consultant, NDC, plans to introduce several boundary maps for proposed voting districts. Copies of the maps are available on the City’s Webpage at https://gonzalesca.gov/government/information-center/news. Copies of maps will also be available at the hearing. The public is invited to this and future public hearings to ask questions and provide input regarding the content of draft maps and the proposed sequence of elections.
The City Council will discuss and consider and provide direction on the district map(s), including but not limited to modification of proposed district boundaries and such other matters as may be related to the formation of City Council districts. No final action on district maps will be taken at this meeting.
Interpreter services will be provided, and a translated copy of this notice will be made available.
All documents prepared for the above-described matter are available for review in the offices of the City Clerk, 147 Fourth Street, Gonzales, CA, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Persons interested should appear at the above Public Hearing in order to make their comments known. Persons who are unable to attend may direct their written comments to the City Clerk.
