RESOLUTION NO. 2023-19
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GONZALES
APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A NEW HOLLAND BACKHOE FROM COASTAL TRACTOR IN THE AMOUNT OF $99,047 AND APPROVE THE SURPLUS SALE OF
THE EXISTING BACKHOE
WHEREAS, Staff recommends replacing the existing backhoe used at the city wastewater treatment plant as it’s over 25 years old and needs extensive repairs; and WHEREAS, the State of California adopted Public Contract Code Section 10298 authorizing local agencies to contract with suppliers awarded state bids without further competitive bidding; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 3.16.050 of the Gonzales City Code, the City may utilize its “In-Lieu Purchase Exception” to dispense with formal bidding procedures and rely on the bid or bids of other entities to save both time and money; and WHEREAS, The quote for the purchase of the backhoe from Coastal Tractor is through Sourcewell is based on the lowest responsible competitive bid or equivalent thereto for the purchase of the desired vehicle; and
WHEREAS, Funding for this purchase will come from $99,047 in the sewer impact fund; and
WHEREAS, Staff recommends that the Council authorize execution of an agreement with Coastal Tractor to complete the purchase of a New Holland B95D backhoe.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Gonzales hereby authorizes the purchase of a New Holland backhoe from Coastal Tractor using funds from the sewer impact fund in the amount of $99,047.
