RESOLUTION NO. 2023-61
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GONZALES
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
BETWEEN THE CITY OF GONZALES AND THE INTERNATIONAL
ASSOCIATION OF FIRE FIGHTERS LOCAL 5388, FOR THE PERIOD COVERING JANUARY 1, 2023 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2024
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Gonzales and the City staff were notified in late 2022 of the Fire Department firefighters’ desire to form an employee organization; and WHEREAS, after compliance with provisions of Chapter 15 of the City of Gonzales Personnel Rules, Regulations and Policies for initiating the formation of an employee organization, the City and the Union formally began negotiations for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the parties on February 17, 2023 and reached a tentative agreement on September 8, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the provisions of the new MOU will take effect on the first pay period following ratification by the Union Membership and the City Council; and WHEREAS, the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 5388 held a ratification vote on September 9, 2023, where the new MOU was ratified by the membership.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Gonzales hereby approves the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Gonzales and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 5388, for the period covering January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2024.
