CITY MANAGER DEPARTMENT

STAFF REPORT
TO: Honorable Mayor Rios and City Council
DATE: November 20, 2023
FROM: Carmen Gil, City Manager
THROUGH: Carmen Gil, City Manager
SUBJECT: Resolution No. 2023-68 - Public Works Lead Worker

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council Adopt Resolution No. 2023-68, A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Gonzales establishing the Job Classification for a Public Works Lead Worker focused on utilities, and adding it to the Organizational Chart.

BACKGROUND
In preparation for the Wastewater expansion, there is a need to provide staffing for the new and existing plant. This Lead Worker position will allow for resources to be allocated to utilities until there is need for a separate Utility Department. This position will allow for specialization and better attention to utilities in the meantime.

REVIEW & ANALYSIS
With regulators constantly requiring more stringent records and reporting, utilities are requiring more attention. Stormwater, Wastewater and Water need considerable attention and programming and planning. The existing Lead Worker position can do the same for Streets, Parks and Buildings.
