BACKGROUND
The Measure K Committee currently has three openings. Erin Askew is a long-time resident of Gonzales (See application attached as Exhibit A for more information). Erin’s application was approved and recommended for appointment by the Measure K Committee at their meeting of February 26, 2024.

REVIEW AND ANALYSIS
The Measure K Committee was formed in 2014 with the passage of a one-half percent (0.5%) transactions and use tax (TUT). With its passage came the formation of a 7-member Oversight Committee to ensure fund transparency. For accountability purposes, it is imperative that we do our best to keep a full committee at any given time. With Erin Askew’s appointment we will still have another two seats left to fill. The Committee is working to fill one of them with a local youth.

The Measure K Committee is responsible for the oversight of the TUT funds, they make budget recommendations to the Council on how to prioritize spending it, as well as oversee the Community Action Grants program.
