RESOLUTION NO. 2024-14
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GONZALES
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO WITHDRAW THE FUNDING DONATED
FOR THE DENNIS AND JANICE CAPRARA COMMUNITY CENTER COMPLEX
FROM THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ACCOUNT
WHEREAS, as the City of Gonzales embarked on its Capital Campaign for the Community Center Complex, it was important to provide potential donors with the assurance that all monies donated for the Complex would be held in one pot and would only be used for the development of the Community Cetner Complex; and
WHEREAS, to do that, we needed to find a reputable partner that understood our needs and supported the vision for the Community Center Complex; and WHEREAS, the Community Foundation for Monterey County was gracious enough to work with us and establish a fund in which such donations could be made to and held for the purposed Community Center Complex; and
WHEREAS, today, we are well on our way to making the Community Center Complex a reality, and will be starting construction in May of 2024; WHEREAS, we now are working to secure the construction loan that will help to keep the work advancing and on track; and
WHEREAS, we have drawn down $5.292 million already from the Community Foundation account and have $326,458.44 in the account ready to be drawn down; and WHEREAS, we need that money in our city account as we move into construction to secure the USDA loan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Gonzales hereby authorizes the City Manager to withdraw the current amount of $326,458.44 and deposit it into the City’s Community Center Fund Balance.
