RECOMMENDATION
Staff Recommends the City Council Approve Documents Supporting the City’s Reimbursement Claim For 2023 Winter Storm Expenses Submitted to FEMA/Calif OES.
BACKGROUND
During the Winter Storms of January 2023, the City took emergency measures to prevent damage to the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) by buttressing a section of the Salinas River levee on City property and placing sandbags at the WWTP Operation Building. The City also provided sand and sandbags to City residents and businesses.
City staff submitted a reimbursement claim to FEMA for the labor and materials used during the emergency with the City’s costs totaling $15,703.
REVIEW AND ANALYSIS
Over the last eighteen months City staff coordinated with FEMA staff to provide the necessary supporting documentation for our reimbursement claim. We completed the FEMA process on November 22, 2024.
In December, staff, with the California Office of Emergency Services, emailed the attached forms for City Council approval. Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached documents supporting the City’s Reimbursement Claim For 2023 Winter Storm Expenses Submitted.
