Well 5: Extensive erosion was observed around the well
site and primarily around the pump to waste discharge
basin. The erosion appears to be undermining the
foundation of the discharge line support footing.
Gonzales must develop a plan that does not continue to
worsen the erosion around the well site. A copy of this plan and photographs of any completed modifications
must be sent to the Division.

MONITORING AND REPORTING
Oct. 11,
2024
Lead and Copper Reporting: According to the lab
reports and chains of custody submitted by Gonzales,
Gonzales collected and analyzed 20 valid lead and
copper tap samples. However, the sample from 318
Rincon Road was uploaded with a sample date of July
9, 1960. Additionally, the lead and copper monitoring
results shown on the laboratory report collected from
400 Rincon Road do not match the results that were
electronically submitted to the State. Gonzales must
ensure its laboratory correctly re-uploads its 2024 lead and copper monitoring results collected from 318 Rincon Road and 400 Rincon Road.

2024 SANITARY SURVEY – LIST OF RECOMMENDATIONS
Description of Recommendation Recommended Date to
Address Recommendation
Well 5: The rear of the storage building that house Well 5 displays significant corrosion and no longer appears to be secured to the foundation. The Division recommends Gonzales repair or replace the structure. Additionally, the Division recommends recoating the aboveground piping and appurtenances at the Well 5 site due to corrosion.
As Budget and Workload Allow
Well 6: Pumping to waste at Well 6 has caused erosion underneath the concrete pad that supports the well and discharge piping. The division recommends backfilling the eroded area to better support the concrete pad.
June 30, 2025
Operator Certification: The Division recommend Gonzales employ additional operators with a D2 or higher certification to ensure the distribution system operator requirements are met at all times.

For more information, please visit, https://www.waterboards.ca.gov/drinking_water/certlic/drinkingwater/cccph.html Initial Hexavalent Chromium Source Monitoring: The State Water Board adopted a new Hexavalent Chromium MCL which will go into effect on October 1, 2024. All community and nontransient non-community systems are required to take an initial sample within 6 months (by April 1, 2025) of the adoption.
