RESOLUTION NO. 2025-05
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GONZALES
ADOPTING THE FINAL SALINAS VALLEY SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PLAN WHEREAS, in October 2021 the Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) received grant funding through the California Department of Transportation to develop a Safe Routes to Schools Plan for the cities of Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield, and King City; and WHEREAS, TAMC staff provided project updates during the City Council meetings on August 15, 2022, March 20, 2023, May 1, 2023, and November 18, 2024 meetings; and WHEREAS, the Draft Safe Routes to School Plan was presented to City Council on November 18, 2024, and the Council was requested to provide feedback prior to adoption; and WHEREAS, the Salinas Valley Safe Routes to School Plan contains recommendations for both program/educational activities and infrastructure improvements, the implementation of which is dependent upon the identification of funding for individual projects; and BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Transportation Agency for Monterey County Board of Directors finds that the matters contained in the Salinas Valley Safe Routes to School Plan are within the scope of, and have already been analyzed in, the Final EIR for the 2045 MTP/SCS, certified by AMBAG and approved by TAMC on June 22, 2022, and that no new environmental documentation is required for adoption of the Salinas Valley Safe Routes to School Plan; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Gonzales that the Council adopts the Salinas Valley Safe Routes to School Plan.
