ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Staff will be meeting on Friday, March 14, 2025, with the South County Roundtable, an extension of the MCBC Monterey County Business Council. This will be a Salinas Valley City-centered working session to develop enhanced marketing tools for tourism and increased retail and service businesses.
HOUSING
Vista Lucia Specific Plan. On Monday, March 10, 2025, the Planning Commission considered the VLSP project and recommended approval to the City Council. Staff will now prepare a public hearing notice for a Special Meeting of the City Council on Monday, March 31, 2025.
Housing Element. The Housing Element is nearing completion and a Public Hearing Notice will be prepared for the Planning Commission to consider a recommendation to the City Council on the Planning Commission’s next regular meeting date, April 14, 2025.
BUILDING DIVISION ACTIVITY
From February 1, 2025, through February 28, 2025 (28 reporting days), the City issued 9 permits for a photovoltaic work associated with solar installations, fire sprinklers, and plumbing. The estimated value of improvements was $120,598.

9 VACANT PLANNING COMMISSIONER SEAT
The application period for submitting letters of interest for the vacant Planning Commissioner seat closes Friday, March 14, 2025. Other seats will soon be expiring, and we have asked for Commissioners to prepare letters of interest should they wish to continue with the Planning Commission.
