Finally on April 27th we celebrated a day that so many of us have been waiting for – the groundbreaking of the Dennis and Janice Caprara Community Center Complex. The day was In July 4th was another one for the books in Gonzales. It was filled with laughter and joy and the community coming together at the Gonzales Rotary’s 4th of July event held at Central Park. Our Kid Power summer camp and the pool summer activities have been a hit with a series of Movie Nights being held on Fridays, bringing out over 70 people to join in the fun. Our Kid Power program students even got to learn how to build remote-controlled cars thanks to grant funding provided by the Nancy Buck Ransom Foundation. The students had a great time building their cars and racing each other. They also got to use 3D pens to build fun items like flowers below and the Eiffel Tower.
In July, one of our precious landmarks, the Gonzales Water Tower, got a much needed facelift. Did you know that
cleaning it is quiet a feat? It has to be cleaned by a
professional company whose staff must also coordinate with the wirelss attena carriers as there are two up there.

Fourth Street will also be seeing some upgrades soon. We will start with a slurry seal project along the 100 block of Fourth Street this Fall, between Center and Belden Streets, and then go into more intense work on the 400 block of Fourth Street and the adjacent first two blocks of Alta Minor in the Winter.
