RESOLUTION NO. 2025-76
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GONZALES AWARDING THE 2025 SEWER MANHOLE REHABILITATION CONTRACT TO DON CHAPIN COMPANY,
REJECTING ANY OTHER SUBMITTED BIDS, AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING
CITY STAFF TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH DON CHAPIN COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF $125,000 WHICH INCLUDES A $10,999 CONTINGENCY FOR UNFORESEEN
FIELD CONDITIONS
WHEREAS, staff issued the for the 2025 Sewer Manhole Repair Contract for bid on September 22, 2025; and
WHEREAS, on October 23, 2025, the City received three bids for the project:
BIDDER BID AMOUNT
1 Don Chapin Company $114,001
2 Monterey Peninsula Engineering $124,500
3 Sierra Construction $133,290
WHEREAS, staff confirmed that the Don Chapin Company provided the lowest responsive and responsible bid, and that the Don Chapin Company is qualified to undertake the proposed work and willing to perform the same on a timely basis; and WHEREAS, staff recommends that the Council authorize a contract for the 2025 Sewer Manhole Repair Contract with the Don Chapin Company for the not-to-exceed in the amount of $125,000 which includes a $10,999 contingency for unforeseen field conditions; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Gonzales that Don Chapin Company submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid for the 2025 Sewer Manhole Repair Contract, that the City accepts Don Chapin Company bid and that the contract is hereby awarded to the Don Chapin Company, All other bids are rejected, and the City Manager is directed to notify all other bidders in writing of the City’s decision.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized and further directed to prepare and execute the appropriate contract with Don Chapin Company in the amount of $125,000.
