He also shared advancements in the District.
Dennis and Janice Caprara Community Center Complex
As the Dennis and Janice Caprara Community Center Complex approaches completion be sure to SAVE THE DATE for its Grand Opening, which will take place January 10th, 2026, at 10:00AM! For its programming we are working with partners from CSUMB, The Science Workshop, and the Boys and Girls Club among others to bring in a plethora of opportunities to our community. Remember that first phase of the project includes the Monterey County Library, the Teen Innovation Center and Teen Lounge, the Outdoor Amphitheater and a meeting room. It will also include permanent outdoor activities.
Supervisor Lopez and his team were out here in October visiting the facility. They were impressed and shared their excitement to see it almost operational.

Gonzales Fire Department
The City is considering a Parcel Tax to support our local Fire Department. Did you know we only have 2 Firefighters on duty at all times? With the nearest emergency room being 20 minutes away, and 911 call volumes continually increasing, it is critical we have a team ready to respond to emergeny calls when needed. For more information on this, visit our website at gonzalesca.gov.
Community Engagement
Staff coordinated a successful
Halloween Trunk or Treat event
on the 25th of October and
even though the weather was
less than ideal, it was a great
event and the little ones and
their families enjoyed it.
Odor Questions - We have been getting questions and calls about what we can do to address the foul odor that comes through town. Unfortunately, it is outside our jurisdiction.
However, please call the Monterey Bay Air Resources District at 718-7512. The more they hear from us, the more they can do to help.
