A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GONZALES
IN HONOR AND RECOGNITION OF PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR/CITY ENGINEER PATRICK M. DOBBINS FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE
TO THE CITY AND RESIDENTS OF GONZALES
WHEREAS, in January of 2019, Patrick M. Dobbins was hired as Public Works Director/City Engineer after working for the City as contract City Engineer for four years through Harris & Associates; and WHEREAS, during Patrick’s tenure, he led numerous capital projects like the reconstruction of Alta Street, new City Well 7, rehabilitation of the Community Pool, the $38 million Industrial Wastewater System (set for completion in Spring of 2027) and most recently, the design and construction of the $30 million Dennis and Janice Caprara Community Center Complex, which is set to be completed next month; and WHEREAS, Patrick provided guidance and leadership not only to his Public Works team, but also supported the growth and development of local youth interested in engineering careers by instituting an Intern Program. He also worked with the Gonzales Youth Council on multiple projects, including the Teen Innovation Center, Safe Routes to Schools, and Pedestrian Safety; and WHEREAS, Patrick’s work ethic, commitment and dedication earned him the respect of his colleagues, the Gonzales community and staff, as well as his local and statewide peers. He is compassionate and is always willing to support his colleagues and the residents of Gonzales; and WHEREAS, Patrick successfully stepped in and led the City as Acting City Manager from August through October 2022 while the Interim City Manager was on maternity leave; and WHEREAS, Patrick has served on the Board of the Monterey Bay Chapter of the American Public Works Association for the last 25 years, including as the President in 2002 and 2023. He also represented the City on the TAMC’s Technical Advisory Committee, as well as the South County Public Works Managers Group.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Gonzales takes great pride and pleasure in drawing special attention to the accomplishments of Patrick M.
Dobbins and the indelible history he has created with the City, and through this resolution, does hereby honor, commend, and recognize Patrick M. Dobbins for his exemplary service to the residents of Gonzales, and wishes him well as he moves onto new endeavors.
