FIRE DEPARTMENT

ACTIVITY REPORT
TO: Honorable Mayor Rios and City Council
DATE: February 17, 2026
FROM: Jason Muscio, Fire Chief
THROUGH: Carmen Gil, City Manager
SUBJECT: Fire Department Activity Report

RESPONSES
There were 69 calls for service during the month of January. Due to some issues with new reporting software, I am unable to provide a breakdown of call type. However, there were no significant calls to report during the month. Most were routine medical emergencies and vehicle accidents.

STAFFING
All full-time positions are filled. There are three active Volunteer Firefighters that work shifts as time allows. The Monterey County Regional Fire District (MCRFD) is providing Duty Chief coverage for our Fire Department on a mutual aid basis, with a formal agreement to provide services taking effect on February 1, 2026.

TRAINING
Crews have been participating in training scenarios with the Engine company from MCRFD Chualar station, including drafting and ladder operations, as well as hose deployment in large occupancies. Inhouse training on forcibly entry and fireground tactics was also conducted on an engine company level incorporating the Volunteer Firefighters.

EQUIPMENT
Patrol 8151 was out of service for several days with a battery charging issue. All other apparatus are in service.
