RESOLUTION NO. 2026-03
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GONZALES ACCEPTING THE 2025 SEWER MANHOLE REHABILITATION PROJECT AS
COMPLETE, AUTHORIZING STAFF TO RECORD A NOTICE OF COMPLETION
AND RELEASE RETENTION MONIES TO THE CONTRACTOR
WHEREAS, the two sanitary sewer manholes at Fifth Street were in installed decades ago using brick and mortar and staff has noticed the deterioration of the manhole walls; and WHEREAS, On October 23, 2025, the City received three bids for the project, and the lowest responsive and responsible bid was provided by the Don Chapin Company of Salinas, California; and
WHEREAS, at the November 3, 2025 City Council Meeting, a $125,000 contract with the Don Chapin Company was authorized; and
WHEREAS, the Don Chapin Company began field operations in mid December 2025 and construction was deemed substantially complete on January 30, 2026; NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Gonzales that the 2025 Sewer Manhole Rehabilitation Project is hereby accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that within ten days of adoption of this Resolution, City staff shall file with the County Recorder a Notice of Completion and release retention monies to the Contractor.
