Subject: Comment in opposition to the RV Park at Auburn Rd. and McCourtney Follow Up Flag: Flag for follow up
Flag Status: Flagged
To City Council of Grass Valley Public Comment,
I'm writing to oppose the Millennium Engineering plan to develop an RV and glamping resort on property on McCourtney Road, directly across the street from the county fairgrounds. I live barely a mile away from the corner of McCourtney and Auburn Roads, on Polaris Drive, and I'm shocked that this project has progressed so far with so little publicity and so little effort by the Grass Valley Planning Commission or the City Council to solicit public input. I first heard about the project in late November.
I hope the city council will pause and take a hard look at this project and either kill it or dramatically scale it back.
The project seems fine on the surface, and I can imagine it will produce much needed revenue for the city. But that ignores the downside risk of what could happen if there's a fire in western Nevada County, with local ranchers and homeowners trying to find safe refuge for their horse and burros, goats and sheep at the fairgrounds, while 150 or so SUV's and RV's are rushing out of the resort, trying to escape the smoke and risk of fire, crowding McCourtney and Auburn Road.
The property is also quite busy as a parking lot during the County Fair, Worldfest and other major events. I see nothing in the planning documents about how the fairgrounds will find room for the additional vehicles seeking parking. It would be a bitter irony if local residents decided to stay away from the fairgrounds because of traffic and the lack of parking, while RV'ers camped across the street had easy access to our beautiful facilities.
I understand that the property owners have the right to develop the land for a reasonable profit. I would not be opposed to low income housing, or even a much smaller RV Park that took these issues into consideration. During a briefing on the RV Resort on December 8th, I listened to the Grass Valley Fire Chief try to explain how during a fire emergency in neighborhoods along McCourtney, the RV Park would not result in a horrendous and potentially deadly traffic snarl. It was not convincing.
Please don't proceed with this project without a full review of the risks involved, and a chance for the public, especially the RV Park's neighbors, to voice their concerns.
Cheers and a Merry Christmas,
Cyrus Musiker

Hello, this is Matthew Coulter Grass Valley calling for public comment City Council meeting, Grass Valley, January 11th. First item or these snowplough situation. And why? I guess my question is why so many snow plows were sitting idle when they were needed so badly? Also, no sand was really being used around town and there were some pretty vicious falls on ice and one of them that I filmed was right in front of City Hall. Pretty bad he went to the hospital in ambulance with a bad shoulder injury.
Uhm, on the storm. Note also a homeless and grass fed will have to do something more for Shelter Nevada City. There will be some changes coming there because of what happened at the vets hall, so expect that coming down the Pike. But Grass Valley is really needs to step up and do something about the unsheltered people all over town and not know it. Also Sutton Way is quite a mask with trash and people laying on the street that are drugged out and shooting heroin or whatever they're shooting.
Lemery carrach No one has yet done anything for the erosion for Olympia Creek and putting Waddles back in, they got blown out with the rain storm or the 24th 25th of October. Nothing has been done.
Still waiting for any type of erosion control to be put in place before more of it runs into the Creek. I don't know if any of the staff has been out there to look at that job site, but it is horrific. The damage has been done. The amount of debris that went down the Creek and scoured the Creek and killed everything in the Creek. Traffic speeds AB 43. Please look into a V43 and implement that anyway. You can thank you very much. Bye bye.
