SPECIAL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 8, 2023
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor White called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m.
ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Mayor White, Councilmember Martinez, Councilmember Untalon and Councilmember Ortiz
ABSENT: None
STAFF: City Manager Wood, IT Director Espinosa, City Attorney Thompson, City Clerk Rathbun
GUESTS: Gabriella Serrato, Ernie Gallardo, Stephanie Garcia, Andrew Tipton, Wilfredo Martinez, Ivan Reyes, Ariana Rodriguez, Jose Vazquez, Agapito Vazquez

All recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

CONSIDERATION OF FILLING VACANT CITY COUNCIL SEAT
Staff report was given by City Attorney Thompson.
Ernie Gallardo stated that he just wanted the Council to do what was best for the City.
Gabriella Serrato stated that she wanted the Council to make sure that they selected someone that would represent the City with integrity and the best for our community.
City Council interviewed the following candidates:
Stephanie Garcia
Andrew Tipton
Wilfredo Martinez
Ivan Reyes
Ariana Rodriguez
Jose Vazquez
Agapito Vazquez
Each candidate introduced themselves and answered the following questions:

1. Being a City Councilmember involves more than just sitting at the dais every couple weeks. It involves reading a lot of back up materials, asking questions, thinking independently and making some hard decisions. Can you tell us about a time when you have exhibited these skills?
2. There are many things you will be passionate about but I would like to know what your #1 priority for our community?
3. What do you believe is the role of the City Council in our community?
4. If you received a complaint from a community member, what would be your procedure to follow? Please give a brief example.
There was discussion among the City Council regarding the vacant seat.
A MOTION by Councilmember Untalon, seconded by Councilmember Martinez to appoint Ariana Rodriguez to the vacant City Council seat.
