a. Authorize City Administrator to execute change order #6 (PCO 08) GRIDLEY CITY COUNCIL AGENDA: Special Meeting of 8-17-26 Page 1 of2 City Engineer Dave Harden presented the change order to the City Council and explained that issues with the sports lighting design were discovered while the contractor was drilling to install the light fixtures. Harden stated that the contractor had attempted to identify a solution but had been unable to resolve the issue.

Harden explained that the proposed solution is to install permanent steel casings to prevent water intrusion. The change order would authorize the purchase and installation of the casings. He noted that a decision was needed promptly to avoid demobilizing the crane currently on site, as moving and remobilizing the crane could result in significant additional costs to the City, estimated at approximately $75,000 to $100,000.

Vice Mayor Johnson asked who owned the crane. Harden explained that the crane is owned by a subcontractor working for Franklin Construction. Vice Mayor Johnson also questioned whether the geotechnical engineer or structural lighting engineer should be responsible for the design issue.

Mayor Farr stated that he believed the casings should have already been anticipated and purchased in preparation for the work.
