Hello,
I am a Grover Beach resident and live near the Ramona Garden Park, which has often been a gathering place for our houseless neighbors. I am fully in support of the City purchasing the lot on S. 4th Street to lease to the 5Cities Homeless Coalition so they can build tiny home transitional housing.
Using space that is currently unoccupied to help people who don’t have a place to live is an excellent use of City resources and space. Transitional housing has proven to be an effective tool in reducing houselessness, and with the high cost of living on the Central Coast, a program like this is imperative. After seeing the gazebo taken out of Ramona Garden Park, leaving houseless people with no shelter overhead, this is an important step in the right direction for our community.

Please accept this letter as official support from SLO County YIMBY for the purchasing of land for a future homeless non-congregate shelter. It will not meet all of the need in our area, but it will certainly never sit empty for quite some time. We hope that in the future this land can be used for something similar to the PSHH/HASLO affordable project on S. 13th Street.
