PROCLAMATION OF THE GROVER BEACH CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GROVER BEACH
DECLARING OCTOBER 15 – 22, 2022
AS ”BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SOUTH SLO COUNTY WEEK”
WHEREAS, the citizens of the Grover Beach, California stand firmly committed to Boys & Girls Clubs of South SLO County and their quality before- and after-school programs and opportunities because they provide safe and engaging learning experiences that help children realize their full potential., and support working families by ensuring their children are safe and productive when they are out of their classrooms.; and
WHEREAS, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Boys & Girls Clubs of South SLO County programs have risen to the moment to support youth and are critical supports to help youth recover from this challenging time and address their academic, social, and emotional needs and today, programs are supporting young people and families as they navigate the return to school and will continue to innovate to meet ever-changing needs.; and WHEREAS, many before- and after-school programs across the country are facing operating challenges so severe that they are forced to consider closing their doors and turning off their lights.
WHEREAS, Grover Beach is committed to investing in the health and safety of all young people by providing expanded learning opportunities that help our children learn and grow, while helping them develop the skills essential for success in life and work.; and WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs of South SLO County Week, is a celebration of BGC South SLO’s before- and after-school programs held this year on October 15-22, promotes the importance of quality before- and after-school programs in the lives of children, families, and communities.; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Grover Beach City Council of Grover Beach does herby proclaims October 15-22 as “Boys & Girls Clubs of South SLO County Week” and enthusiastically endorses and commits our city to engage in innovative before and after school programs and activities that ensure the lights stay on and the doors stay open for all children after school.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Grover Beach to be affixed this 11th day of October 2022.
