Good afternoon,
My name is Christy Serpa and I am a resident of Grover Beach, California. I am reaching out to the council to propose a multi-use paved area where people of all ages and sports can use for roller skating, scootering, skateboarding, wheel chairs, futsal, etc. As a roller skater I am always looking for smooth surfaces to skate on. Unfortunately those spaces all have signs that don't allow me to skate there with risk of confrontation. I have had the police called on me twice now, simply for just roller skating in the tennis court.
I think a multi-use surface would benefit the community immensely. In the last two years that I have been skating I have met over40 local residents that live between Grover Beach and Arroyo Grande who roller skate/blade. It's a beautiful community of inclusive and positive people.
I hope you can help me and my roller skating friends find a solution.
