PREPARED BY: Greg Ray, Public Works Director/City Engineer Erin Wiggin, CIP Manager
SUBJECT: Approval of Budget Increases for CIP Projects 2295-14 (Local Street Rehabilitation and Repair) and 2274 (Citywide Sidewalk Infill)
RECOMMENDATION
Approve budget increases for CIP Projects 2295-14 (Local Street Rehabilitation and Repair) and 2274 (Citywide Sidewalk Infill).
BACKGROUND
During construction of CIP project 2295-14 (Local Street Rehabilitation and Repair) and related project 2274 (Citywide Sidewalk Infill), additional funding from the Water Enterprise Fund and the Gas Tax Fund was necessary to complete the project. Emergency water line work was required totaling $94,960 with an initial budget of $40,000 leading to a shortfall of $54,960. In addition, due to the popularity of the sidewalk infill cost sharing program, there were $82,008 in costs incurred by the City with an initial budget of $50,000 this fiscal year leading to a shortfall of $32,008.
Pending Council approval of these recommended budget increases, staff will process Budget Amendment Requests to formally increase the project budgets.
FISCAL IMPACT
The shortfall of $54,960 from water line work will be funded by the Water Enterprise Fund and the shortfall of $32,008 will be funded by Gas Tax funds.
ALTERNATIVES
The Council has the following alternatives to consider:
1. Approve the budget increases for the CIP projects; or
2. Do not approve the increases; or
3. Provide staff with additional direction
