PROCLAMATION OF THE GROVER BEACH CITY COUNCIL
RECOGNIZING SEPTEMBER 11, 2023 as
“PATRIOTS DAY”
WHEREAS, September 11, 2023, marks the 22nd anniversary of the tragic events that unfolded on September 11, 2001, a day forever etched in the hearts and minds of Americans; and
WHEREAS, on that fateful day, our nation witnessed acts of unspeakable terror that claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 innocent individuals and forever altered the landscape of our country; and
WHEREAS, in the face of adversity and devastation, countless acts of heroism, sacrifice, and unity emerged, as first responders, law enforcement personnel, and ordinary citizens demonstrated unwavering courage and selflessness; and WHEREAS, September 11th is recognized by Federal law as Patriots Day, a day of remembrance that stands as a solemn reminder of the resilience, compassion, and unity that define the spirit of our great nation; and
WHEREAS, on this Patriots Day, we honor the memory of the lives lost and pay tribute to the enduring strength of survivors, families, and communities affected by the events of September 11, 2001, by flying the American flag at half-staff; and WHEREAS, we recognize the dedication and sacrifices of our military personnel, first responders, and all those who continue to serve and protect our country, upholding the ideals and values upon which our nation was founded; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Grover Beach City Council does herby officially proclaim September 11, 2023, as “Patriots Day” in Grover Beach, and urges all citizens to observe this day with reflection, remembrance, and acts of kindness in honor of those who perished, those who survived, and those who continue to safeguard our freedoms.
