PROCLAMATION OF THE GROVER BEACH CITY COUNCIL
DECLARING OCTOBER 8-14, 2023 as
”NATIONAL FIRE PREVENTION WEEK”
WHEREAS, the City of Grover Beach, CA is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those living in and visiting our city; and
WHEREAS, fire is a serious public safety concern both locally and nationally, and homes are the locations where people are at greatest risk from fire; and WHEREAS, Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of October 8th in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, which began on October 8, 1871, causing devastating damage and great loss.
WHEREAS, the 2023 Fire Prevention Week campaign theme is “Cooking Safety Starts with YOU.” Grover Beach is reminded to pay attention to fire prevention and works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe when cooking.
WHEREAS, cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries.
Unattended cooking is the leading cause of cooking fires and deaths.
WHEREAS, Grover Beach first responders are dedicated to reducing the occurrence of home fires and home fire injuries through prevention and protection education; and WHEREAS, Grover Beach residents that are responsive to public education measures are better able to take personal steps to increase their safety from fire, especially in their homes; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Grover Beach City Council does herby proclaim October 8-14, 2023, as Fire Prevention Week throughout the City of Grover Beach.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Grover Beach to be affixed this 10th day of October 2023.
