CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT
Agenda Item No. 6
Placement: Consent
Meeting Date: May 26, 2027
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Matthew Bronson, City Manager
PREPARED BY: Wendi Sims, City Clerk
SUBJECT: Appointments to the Planning Commission

RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a Resolution for appointments to the Planning Commission including re-appointment of David Halverson to a four-year term of office, and appointment of Dominic Dal Porto to a fouryear term of office, both scheduled to expire May 31, 2030 and appointment of Greg Vine to the remaining two-years of office of former Commissioner Hoffman’s term, scheduled to expire May 31, 2028.

BACKGROUND
Three vacancies have arisen on the Planning Commission due to the expiration of the four-year terms of Commissioners David Halverson and Anne Holden, which expire on May 31, 2026, and the resignation of Former Commissioner Maia Hoffman, whose term will expire on May 31, 2028.

These vacancies were listed in Local Appointments List of All Boards, Commissions, and Committees scheduled vacancies for Calendar Year 2026. The list was posted on or prior to December 31, 2025, in the local newspapers, noticed on the City’s website, government cable access Channel 20, and posted on the bulletin board located at City Hall.

At the May 11, 2026 meeting, the Council conducted interviews during the regularly scheduled meeting of eight qualified applicants. The Council chose to re-appoint David Halverson and appoint Dominic Dal Porto, both to four-year terms to expire on May 31, 2030, and to appoint Greg Vine to the remaining two years of Commissioner Hoffman’s term to expire on May 31, 2028.

Adoption of the Resolution will officially approve these selections for the Commission members to begin serving their new terms at the next scheduled Planning Commission meeting on June 2.
