PROCLAMATION OF THE GROVER BEACH CITY COUNCIL
PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 2026 as
“RECOVERY HAPPENS TOGETHER”
WHEREAS, National Recovery Month (Recovery Happens Together), which started in 1989, is a national observance held every September to promote and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, and the dedication of service providers and communities who make recovery in all its forms possible; and WHEREAS, research shows meaningful human connection supports resilience, hope, and long-term recovery. Every connection can make a difference. ; and WHEREAS, recovery housing provides a safe, supportive environment where people can build stability, connect with peers, and access services that strengthen longterm recovery; and WHEREAS, this Recovery Month, we shift the spotlight from challenges to celebration; honoring the milestones reached, relationships rebuilt, and lives fully lived, because celebrating recovery out loud is itself a powerful act of stigma reduction; and WHEREAS, Recovery is not simply the absence of substance use — it is the active, ongoing pursuit of physical health, mental wellbeing, and emotional resilience; embracing the whole self is what makes recovery last; and WHEREAS, the Grover Beach community is committed to promoting awareness, support, and access to services for those in need of recovery; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Grover Beach City Council does herby officially proclaim the month of September as “Recovery Happens Together”, and we call upon all residents, community organizations, healthcare providers, businesses, and educational institutions to join in supporting individuals on their journey to recovery and to take action to remove the barriers that hinder access to treatment and support services.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Grover Beach to be affixed this 14th day of September, 2026.
