3. RECOMMENDATION TO DISCUSS OPTIONS FOR FILLING VACANT CITY COUNCIL SEAT SUGGESTED ACTION: City Council discuss and direct staff regarding the filling of the vacant City Council seat resulting from Councilmember Maravilla’s resignation, which may either be filled by appointment or by calling a special election. The City Council consists of five (5) members who are elected atlarge to a four (4) year term of office. The next regularlyestablished election date for the City for which an election could be called is November 8, 2022. Three (3) City Council seats with fouryear terms were already up at that election; a fourth City Council seat with a twoyear term to fill the vacancy left by Councilmember Maravilla will also be placed on that ballot.
