RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION
December 2, 2025
The Special Meeting of the Hawaiian Gardens Recreation and Parks Commission is hereby called to order on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., at the City Hall Chambers, 21815 Pioneer Blvd.
Hawaiian Gardens, CA 90716.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Luis Gonzalez.

Commissioner Gonzalez made a motion to receive and file Consent Calendar, Commissioner Rodriguez second the motion.
B. DISCUSSION ITEMS
1. Special Events Update
Staff reported on the following upcoming events:
- Santa Parade, Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Vice Chairmember Amaro, inquired whether the commissioners could take part by riding in the Santa Parade. Staff will look into the possibility of having the commissioners participate in next year's event.

- Tree Lighting event, December 5, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Breakfast with Santa, December 6, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11 :00 a.m.
Commissioners expressed interest in attending the Breakfast with Santa event. Staff requested that they please RSVP with staff if they plan to join. - Employee Recognition Dinner, December 12, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 11 :00 p.m.
2. Programs and Tournament
Staff reported on the following programs and tournaments:
- SCMAF Football Tournament, December 13, 2025, for youth ages 10-12 Commissioner Rodriguez inquired about the potential for non-profits to participate in food sales at this event.
- Gym and Racquetball Renovation update
Staff will share project presentation update at the next commission meeting. - Scholarship Program update. Commissioner Rodriguez proposed updating the interview questions annually.
C. ORAL COMMISIONERS REPORT
Commissioner Gonzalez expressed his appreciation to staff and extended well wished a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Commissioner Rodriguez expressed her thanks to the staff and asked for an update regarding the new potential commissioner.
Vice Chairmember Amaro requested an update on the Utility Box Beautification project for the next commission meeting. Also, expressed his appreciation to staff. Additionally, requested that the commission is notified about any upcoming events.
Chairmember Hernandez complimented staff for the Halloween event, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and expressed her appreciation to staff for all their hard work.
