RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation to approve a donation to Hawaiian Elementary School.
SUMMARY
Hawaiian Elementary School has requested a donation of $5,000 to fund college-andcareer-readiness focused field trips for their students. The funds requested will offset costs associated with these educational experiences, including transportation to and from colleges, museums, galleries, career-focused sites, and entrance fees and program costs to ensure full student participation.
These field trips will reinforce Hawaiian Elementary’s schoolwide focus on college and career readiness. They will also introduce students to careers of the future, helping them understand how their learning today connects to opportunities tomorrow.
The donation will benefit all students in grades TK-6th grade that attend Hawaiian Elementary School. There are 295 students, aged 4-12 years old, who are all Hawaiian Gardens residents.
FISCAL IMPACT
The FY 25-26 budget has funds available for donations to schools.
