CITY OF HAWAIIAN GARDENS
CITY COUNCIL
STAFF REPORT
Agenda Item #B3
DATE: March 11, 2026
TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council
FROM: Ernesto Marquez, City Manager
BY: Joseph Jimenez, Recreation and Community Services Director RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation to declare cardio and strength equipment from fitness room as surplus and authorize City Manager to sell or dispose as necessary.
SUMMARY
The Recreation Department offers a fitness room that residents can utilize to meet their health and wellbeing needs. There are several pieces of equipment that are outdated, duplicates or in non-working order. The reason for the removal of equipment is to create adequate space to safely workout around and the pieces are not being used as frequently as others.
Municipal Code Section 3.12.120 permits equipment no longer in service to be declared surplus and outlines the process to dispose of it.
Due to the condition of the equipment listed below, staff recommends the City Council declare the following equipment as surplus and authorize the City Manager or designee to sell or dispose of mentioned equipment in their current “as is” condition.
